Six first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program last week by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.The six were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Joshua Allen Binder, 53, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of criminal conspiracy-identity theft. He was charged by Lansford police for an incident on April 4.He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office.Dylan Thomas Byrne, 26, of East Stroudsburg, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. He was arrested on Oct. 31, 2016, along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 60 days.Tara Kirsten Hartman, 23, of Weatherly, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on April 4 by Weatherly police. She refused a test.She was assessed $600 and her license was suspended for 60 days.Nicholas Thomas Reyda, 38, of Lansford, was placed for two years on charges of DUI and simple assault. He was arrested on Aug. 5, 2016, by Lansford police.He was assessed $650 and his license was suspended for 60 days.Christopher Gene Schott, 21, of Weatherly, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on March 28 by Weatherly police. He refused a test.He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 60 days.Miguel Angel Vazquez Valazquez, 27, of Philadelphia, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Dec. 14, 2016, by state police at Fern Ridge along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 60 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and follow any recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
