Carbon crash probed

State police at Lehighton reported on a two vehicle crash that occurred about 2:33 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the intersection of Church Road at Beers Lane, in Towamensing Twonship, Carbon County.

Troopers said Tonya M. Dunlap, 34, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Venture southbound on Church while Joseph R. Concilio, 73, of Palmerton, was driving a 2003 Saturn Vue eastbound on Beers. At the intersection Concilio attempted to turn left onto Church with Dunlap's vehicle striking Concilio's vehicle.Both vehicles came to rest in a cornfield off Church Road. Dunlap was injured and taken by Palmerton ambulance to the Palmerton Hospital. Concilio was not injured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.Troopers cited Concilio for a stop sign violation.Troopers also investigated a crash at 7:05 a.m. Sept. 30 along SR560 in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Michael J. Skrzypek, 30, of Mount Bethel, was driving a truck westbound when he lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid a passenger car in his lane of travel, he told troopers. The truck went onto the north shoulder and struck a retaining wall, then came to rest partially blocking the westbound lane.Skrzypek sustained a minor injury but did not require medical attention, troopers said.
