A Lehighton woman has been jailed after allegedly stealing 31 items with a value of $243.64 at Wegman's in Bethlehem.
Dianne L. Lutz, 44, was arrested by the Colonial Regional Police Department in Bethlehem.Police said that since Lutz has previous retail theft arrests the charge rises to a felony.She was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bail.According to police, Wegman's loss prevention observed Lutz selecting multiple grocery and merchandise items from the shelves and bagging the items in the aisles.Police said Lutz then allegedly proceeded to pay for three items at the pharmacy counter and pushed her shopping cart out of the store without paying for the other 31 items.The incident happened on Oct. 16.
