Lehigh Township police in Northampton County conducted an "Operation Safe Stop" on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Police monitored 35 bus stop locations, with unmarked and marked patrol cars, along state routes 145, 248, and 946. Police were happy to report no violations occurred.Police remind motorists of the severity of penalties for violating state school bus laws. A person who is found guilty of violation of meeting or overtaking a school bus will pay a fine of $250, face a license suspension of 60 days, and assessed five points on their driving record.
