Tamaqua police have cited John Sweigert, 70, of 25 Main St., MaryD, for retail theft following an incident at the Fegley Mini Mart on Oct. 25.

At 3:05 p.m. Sweigert entered the store, took a pack of Life Savers from a shelf, then proceeded to open the pack and began eating the candy. He placed the open pack in his pocket, then picked up two more packs of candy. He purchased the two unopened packs and left the store.When stopped by police Sweigert admitted taking the candy, apparently feeling as though he didn't need to pay for a partial pack.
