State police at Frackville conducted joint regulatory checkpoints at local high schools for the purpose of educating younger drivers on seat belt and vehicle occupancy laws.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, a joint checkpoint was conducted at Mahanoy Area High School with Mahanoy City police and Wednesday a checkpoint was conducted at Marian High School with Rush Township police.Another checkpoint was scheduled for today at Tamaqua Area High School with Tamaqua police.Troopers also said a child safety seat check will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Washington Fire Company, located at 1309 Centre St., Ashland. Anyone who wishes to have the technician check their child safety seat should call troopers at 570-874-5300 to make an appointment.
