A man is in stable condition after his motorcycle crashed with another vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Palmerton.
Borough police Chief Randy Smith said the incident occurred at 3:04 p.m. at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and State Road.Smith said Debra Rehrig, 53, of Palmerton, was attempting to turn her Chevrolet Equinox left off Route 248 onto Mauch Chunk Road, when she was struck by a motorcycle driven by Christopher Bemelmans, 38, of Bethlehem, who was driving west, attempting to enter Route 248.Smith said after the crash, the motorcycle ended on Bemelmans' leg, and he was treated at the scene and flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. His motorcycle was towed from the scene.Rehrig was not injured, but her vehicle had damage to the passenger's front door and right front fender, he said.Smith said the investigation is still ongoing, as there are several witnesses who need to be interviewed.He said once the investigation is complete, a determination will be made to see if charges are warranted.Also assisting at the scene were Palmerton Ambulance, Palmerton Fire Company, Lehigh Township Police Department, Lehighton Ambulance and MedEvac, Smith said.
