Carbon County court

Three defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II in Carbon County court on Thursday.

Helenne M. Yonkovitch

, 38, of Orefield, Lehigh County, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on March 8, 2017, by Palmerton police at the Country Harvest Food Mart.

Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered she make restitution of $24 to the store.

Debby A. Hawkey

, 40, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. She was charged by state police at Fern Ridge for her part in the theft of two diamond rings from a residence along Arapohoe Road in Penn Forest Township on Nov. 19, 2016.

Nanovic deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.

Jesus Manuel Otero Santos

, 28, of Philadelphia, pleaded to one count of theft. He was charged by park rangers at Beltzville State Park in Franklin Township on July 12, 2014, with taking an iPhone from another person at the park. The phone was later recovered.

Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render 40 hours of community service.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
