A Philadelphia man was sentenced to a state prison term on Tuesday on drug-dealing charges.

Kyle Joseph Anderson, 25, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve 21 to 48 months in a state correctional institution on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.Anderson previously pleaded guilty to the charges. He was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough on April 9, 2016.At the stop troopers suspected criminal activity and a K-9 unit was called to the scene and identified drugs present in the vehicle.Troopers found 20 bags of cocaine weighing about 18 grams. However, in a plea agreement with the district attorney's office, the weight of the drugs found was reduced considerably, which save him much less prison time. Also, six other charges were dropped.Before being sentenced, he entered guilty pleas to two counts of simple assault for incidents at the county prison that occurred on Sept. 19 and 20, 2016.Nesquehoning police charged that Anderson assaulted inmate Rodney Rider. The Sept. 19 assault occurred when Rider refused to give Anderson the remote for a television. In the second assault Anderson was one of six inmates charged with entering Rider's cell and assaulting him, causing serious injuries to the victim.On the two assault counts Matika sentenced him to serve six to 12 months on each with the terms running concurrent to each other but consecutive to the drug charges for a total state prison term of 27 to 60 months. Anderson was also ordered to pay court costs of about $1,000, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, have no contact with Rider, and supply a DNA sample.He was given credit for 494 days spent in prison to date on the charges.
