A Jim Thorpe man was sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court to a state prison term after previously admitting to drug dealing.

Vito William Molle III, 45, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve 12 to 30 months in a state correctional institution, rejecting a request for a county prison term. Molle had pleaded to one count each of criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance - heroin.He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police on July 24, 2015, after selling heroin to a confidential informant.Molle's request to be placed in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest - was rejected.Matika said he was concerned that Molle was a drug addict and has done nothing to address his problem. He also said Molle committed the offense while he was on parole for another drug-dealing charge.Molle told Matika, "I did a lot of wrong things in my life."In addition to the prison term, Molle was ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service when released on parole, make restitution of $100 to the Jim Thorpe Police Department for the drug sale money and pay court costs of about $1,000.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Sept. 1.
