Monroe man charged for filing false report with police

A Monroe County man has been charged with reporting a burglary that never happened and then making a claim for damages with his insurance company.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said they received information that a false report would be called into them on Dec. 28, 2013, concerning a burglary. The sources told police that Robert Milazzo, 39, of 9493 Juniper Lane, Tobyhanna, would be calling in the burglary report in order to collect on his renter's insurance.Police said Milazzo did call in a burglary later the same morning and officers responded. Milazzo then turned in an insurance claim in the amount of $15,450 for items he claimed were taken but, police said, actually never existed, never were at the residence, and were missing before the staged burglary.On Jan. 7 policed arrested Milazzo on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges including insurance fraud and false reports to law enforcement.He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville on the charges and also for a parole violation, police added.
