The Tamaqua Area School Board voted in a special session to advertise for the head coaching positions for boys' basketball, girls' basketball, varsity wrestling and swimming.

The board voted unanimously on the recommendation of the auxiliary committee to open the four positions. Board members Robert Gill, Larry Neff, Joan Hess, Richard Miller, Ronald Werner, Kathy Kunkel and Patricia Hotsko cast affirmative votes. Directors Robert Betz and Jacqueline Shafer were absent.The incumbent coaches in the positions are George Waidell for boys' basketball, Andrew Harvan for girls' basketball, Tom Edwards for wreslting and Lewis Hallock for swimming. Hallock is retiring from his position.
