An attempted theft from a motor vehicle is being investigated by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks, who said a witness chased off two unknown males who were observed in the act between 12:15-12:23 a.m. Jan. 17 in Jackson Township.

Police said the victim is Molly J. Ryan, 21, of Stroudsburg, whose 2000 Ford Taurus was entered. Nothing was taken because the intruders were caught in the act before fleeing.The incident happened in a parking lot at 2584 Mountain Road in the township. Police said the two suspects were observed looking into vehicles that were parked there. After a witness observed them entering Ryan's vehicle, the two men fled in their vehicle on Mountain Road toward Tannersville.The vehicle is described as a gray Mercury Grand Marquis.
