The Lehigh Valley Senior All-Star Classic has announced the rosters for this year’s game.
Eleven players from the Times News coverage area - three boys and eight girls - were selected to play in the game.
In the boys games, Jack Lorenz of Lehighton and Donald Francois Jr. of Pleasant Valley will play on the North, and Dylan Witkowski of Northwestern will play for the West.
In the girls games, Pleasant Valley’s Samantha Merklin, Drew Morgan and Aliyah Williams will join Lehighton’s Hailey Miller and Aaliyah Fisher on the North team. Brianna Moore and Reagen Nemeth of Palmerton, and Emma Niebell of Northern Lehigh are on the West team.
The Lehigh Valley Senior All-Star Classic (formally Via All-Star Classic) features the best players in the greater Lehigh Valley. This will be the 47th annual All-Star Classic, which raises funds for Via of the Lehigh Valley’s programs for adults and children with disabilities.
In addition, the Lehigh Valley Basketball Hall of Fame announced the inductees for the class of 2022. The Hall of Fame was established in 1978 and honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to high school basketball in the Lehigh Valley.
The 2022 Hall of Fame Inductees are:
• Kerry Kinek - Played at Allentown Central Catholic High School from 2009-2012 and Lehigh University from 2012-2016
• Darron Hilliard - Played at Liberty High School from 2008-2011 and Villanova University from 2011-2015
• Jalen Cannon - Played at William Allen High School from 2008-2011 and St. Francis Brooklyn from 2011-2015
• Jill Jeffrey - Played at William Allen High School from 1972-1976 and Montclair State from 1976-1980
• Tom Mugavero - Newspaper reporter for The Express-Times and The Morning Call
The Lehigh Valley Senior All-Star Basketball Classic is presented by St. Luke’s University Health Network. Other key sponsorships include Pen Tele Data, The Yurconic Agency and Northampton Community College.
The games are held at Northampton Community College’s Spartan Center Gymnasium with the following schedule:

1:00 p.m. - LV Basketball Hall of Fame Inductions
2:30 p.m. - Girls East vs West
4:00 p.m. - Boys East vs West
Ticket for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
