Area football players help ESU defeat Kutztown

Northern Lehigh graduate Matt Frame scored the winning touchdown in overtime last Saturday to lead East Stroudsburg University’s football team to a 32-25 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory over previously undefeated Kutztown.

The Warriors (8-1) had the ball first in OT and Frame bulled his way into the end zone from a yard out to give his team the lead. ESU’s defense then prevented the Golden Bears from scoring to gain the win and the PSAC East Division championship.

Frame, a fifth-year senior fullback, finished with five yards rushing on three carries and had two catches for 12 yards.

ESU’s starting quarterback and former Palmerton standout, Matt Machalik, completed 12-of-27 passes for 183 yards and a TD. The former Blue Bomber, a junior, also ran the ball six times for 35 yards.

Cade Christopher, a Northwestern grad, also participated in the game, returning two punts for 21 yards.

The Warriors, who will be playing in the PSAC championship game against Slippery Rock on Nov. 14, end their regular season this afternoon at Millersville.
