A Wilkes-Barre man died in a two-vehicle crash at 12:47 p.m. Oct. 28 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks identified the victim as Leonard J. Petrilli, 70.

Police said the crash occurred when a 2019 Audi driven by Petrilli and a 2020 Freightliner operated by Joel J. Benitez, 32, of Bethlehem, were traveling northbound. They said Petrilli attempted to pass the rig and the Audi left its lane of travel, crossed over into the right lane and collided with the truck.

Police said the Audi became engaged in the rear of the rig, then was disengaged and rolled over several times. Petrilli was ejected from the car.

Police said he was airlifted to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he died.
