Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Approved payment application No. 1 in the amount of $27,900 for the Palmerton Area Library renovation project.

• Appointed Gary Greenzweig to the zoning hearing board.

• Appointed Janet Papciak to the shade tree commission.

• Approved an ordinance for the installation of a handicap parking space.

• Announced that trick or treat will be held in the borough from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Approved the Christmas in the Park use request amendment to include the request of fire police.

• Announced that borough council will meet at 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month in November and December.
