At a recent meeting of the Northern Lehigh School District Board of Directors, Janet Varilek of Washington Township was appointed to a vacancy that existed on the board.

She will succeed Jack Grant, who resigned his position.

Varilek is active in the district, serving as adviser to the Northern Lehigh Students Against Driving Drunk, vice president of the Upper Lehigh Valley Grapevine, an affiliate of the Chemical People, liaison for the high school advisory board sponsored by the Alcohol Council - Lehigh Valley, education chairman for the Slatington Women’s Club and an accompanist for the Music Club.

She and her husband, Randy, have three children, Ken, a graduate of Northern Lehigh High School, and Kevin and Kathy, current students there.
