October 12, 1963 — Dave Whetstone carries nine times for 106 yards and two touchdowns to help Tamaqua earn a 26-6 victory over Nesquehoning. The Blue Raiders open the scoring in the second quarter when a Whetstone 35-yard run leads to Bud Donald’s 5-yard burst into the end zone. After the Warriors tie the score on a Joe Drosdak 15-yard TD toss to Joe Koval, Tamaqua regains the advantage in the third frame thanks to a 69-yard kickoff return by Dennis Kalish that puts the ball in the red zone. Whetstone eventually scores from a yard out. Donald throws a 5-yard TD pass to Kotchmar to extend the lead, and Whetsone tallies again from a yard out in the fourth for insurance.
