blue ridge hook and ladder company needs your help

The Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Company serving Hamilton and Ross Townships recently mailed contribution requests to township residents.

For those who are unaware, all members of the fire company are volunteers; there are no paid staff. They respond 24/7/365 and have left church services, their child’s birthday parties and even Superbowl watch parties to respond to emergencies in all weather conditions. brhl.org needs funding to continue to serve residents

I have been told that the response to past mailed donation requests is a disappointing 13%, hardly enough to cover the cost associated with firefighting. Mandatory training, expensive safety and firefighting equipment, truck purchases, maintenance and fuel costs, building maintenance and other associated expenses are not negotiable.

Having had a vehicle fire with an immediate response from Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder, I know how important it is to support their worthy efforts. With cold weather on the way and furnaces and fire places in use, the opportunity for fire is heightened.

I am requesting that each household in Hamilton and Ross Townships consider making a donation to Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Company. Donations of any amount will support an expert and timely response to your family’s fire or carbon monoxide emergency.

They also provide assistance to emergency responders and provide education on fire prevention.

I understand that your finances may be tight, but the fire company’s need are urgent. Folks tell me they have no money, but the restaurant tables are full. Your dinner will be a fond and distant memory, but heaven forbid a fire consumes your home or business, the associated memories are more precious than any restaurant meal.

Consider eating at home a few nights and donate the money saved to the fire company. Your life, or that of a loved one may depend on it. You may send your check directly to the fire company. They also accept PayPal and Venmo at brhl.org.
