State police at Fogelsville - crashes

State police at the Fogelsville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Lisa A. Freitas, 39, and an 8-year-old girl, both of Slatington, had minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 12:14 p.m. April 12 on Brookside Road, Lower Macungie Township. Police reported the incident this week.

Police said the two were transported from the scene by personnel from the Macungie Ambulance Corps.

Police said the crash occurred as Logan R. Castiello, 18, of Macungie, was operating a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander south when he failed to slow/stop and the vehicle subsequently struck the back of a 2017 Hyundai Tucson operated by Kimberly A. Miller, 57, of Macungie, who had slowed down in the travel lane.

Police said that Freitas and the girl were passengers in the Outlander.

Castiello was cited for following too closely, according to police.

Miller was uninjured, police said.

• Police said Linda M. Smith-Zengen, 51, of Palmerton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 2:41 p.m. Oct. 6 at the intersection of Holbens Valley Road and Route 100 in Lowhill Township. She was uninjured in the incident.

Police said she was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 east on Holbens Valley Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign. The vehicle crossed over Route 100 and crashed into an embankment on the east shoulder of the road, police said.

The RAV4 was towed from the scene.
