Man arrested in stabbing at Shenandoah game

State police at the Frackville barracks responded to a stabbing incident Thursday night at Shenandoah Valley High School’s home football game against Schuylkill Haven.

Police said a juvenile was stabbed in the abdomen by Jose Nunez, no age or address listed, who was arraigned and jailed after the incident.

Police said the Schuylkill County Communications Center received a telephone call at about 9:13, with the caller reporting a fight was taking place at the Shenandoah Valley High School football stadium, 900 West Coal St.

Information provided to state police indicated a fight occurred near the concession stand in the stadium during the football game. Police said Nunez brandished a knife and proceeded to stab the juvenile, who was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville, before being airlifted to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township.

Police said Nunez was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Frackville and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker of Shenandoah on a number charges, including aggravated assault. He was denied bail by the magistrate and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
