Halloween and Harvest FESTIVALS

Halloween events

• Lehigh & Lausanne Rural Vol. Fire Co. Carbon County Fire District 19, 390 S. Lehigh Gorge Drive, Weatherly, 5 p.m. Oct. 17, Halloween/Bonfire; hot foods and hot cider for purchase along with a Best Costume for Halloween. Beer Tent with ID Required 21 and over; DJ on site. All parents are responsible for their children due to the Bonfire.

• Chestnuthill Township will celebrate Halloween with its fifth annual Halloween Spooktacular from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 17. The family-friendly event will feature Halloween-themed activities and festivities for residents and visitors. A rain date has been scheduled for Oct. 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. if needed. Residents are encouraged to watch township communications for additional event details as the date approaches.

We have afternoon filled with fun fall activities for the entire family. Attractions at this year’s event: Pumpkin patch; Trunk-or-Treat; Beer and Hard Cider by BRIX Brewhouse; Food Trucks (Dale’s Concessions, Empanada Train, PV Ice Cream Truck); bounce houses, apple cider press; DIY crafts; Halloween music and more.

• Witches Midnight Market, 2-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 in 165 South 1st Street., Lehighton, free entertainment, outdoor events.

Parades

• The Lehighton Area Halloween Committee will hold its 55th annual Halloween Parade at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. A rain date is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.

Parade participants will check in and receive division assignments beginning at 2 p.m. at Ninth and Coal streets. Tractor-trailer floats must be in line by 3 p.m. If the rain date is used, tractor-trailer floats must be lined up by 1 p.m.

• The 35th annual Palmerton Halloween Parade will step off at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, through the borough. A rain date is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19. The parade will feature community organizations, walking groups and floats, along with performances by the Mackay Pipe Band, the Palmerton High School Marching Band and the Grand Master Band Organ.

• Andreas annual Halloween Parade sponsored by the West Penn Township Lions Club, Andreas Sporting Club and VFW Post #5069, Oct. 21. The parade starts at 7 p.m. at Andreas Sporting Club 1 Andreas Road, Andreas.

• Jim Thorpe Parade, Saturday, Oct. 24, 2 p.m.

• Tamaqua Halloween Parade, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. Rain date: Oct. 28.

Trunk or Treat

• Friends of Beltzville State Park and Beltzville State Park, 2950 Pohopoco Drive, Lehighton, 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, Parking Lot A, Beltzville State Park. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume and get ready for an afternoon filled with creatively decorated trunks by Park Staff and Friends of Beltzville Members, plenty of candy, festive fun, and community spirit. • A free, family-friendly trunk-or-treat event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Union UCC Grove parking lot and Union Lutheran parking lot in Neffs.

The Halloween celebration will feature decorated vehicles, candy and refreshments, including hot dogs, pizza, soft pretzels and drinks.

Organizers are also seeking businesses and organizations interested in decorating a vehicle and participating in the event. Registration information is available through the event organizers.

• Cornerstone Community Church will host its Fall Harvest Fest and Trunk-or-Treat from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 24 at the church, 388 Polk Township Road, Kunkletown. The free community event will feature harvest-themed trunks with treats, games, crafts, face painting, inflatable attractions, Bible school character games, a story walk, bounce house and bake sale. Free food, popcorn, cotton candy, hot cocoa and coffee will also be available. The event will include an Operation Christmas Child collection drive. Attendees who bring an Operation Christmas Child donation will receive a free bake sale item.

• Towamensing fire company, Trunk or Treat and Pumpkin Carving Contest from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at the fire station, 105 Firehouse Road, Palmerton. The event is open to all ages and will feature trunk-or-treating, pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting contests, along with food available for purchase from Griff’s Grub. Pumpkins and carving or painting supplies will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, best decorated vehicle and best pumpkin. Registration fees for pumpkin carving contestants and pumpkin painting contestants. Trunk-or-treat participants and spectators may attend free of charge. • Trunk or Treat, Oct. 24, 5-8 p.m. at the Germantown Grove, 800 Laurel St., Jim Thorpe, hayride through the Grove.

• Penn Forest Park will hold a free Trunk or Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at Penn Forest Recreational Park, 1336 Route 903, Jim Thorpe. The family-friendly event will feature candy, pumpkins, prizes and a contest for the best-decorated vehicle. Community members are invited to decorate their trunks and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. The event is open to all ages and will be held rain or shine. Those interested in participating with a decorated vehicle can contact Parks@pennforesttownship.org.

• Marian Catholic High School will welcome families from throughout the region to its annual Trunk or Treat celebration on Oct. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the school, located at 166 Marian Avenue in Tamaqua.

The free community event will feature creatively decorated vehicles, candy, costumes and family-friendly Halloween fun. All area families are welcome, and no RSVP is required to attend as a trick-or-treater.

Marian is also inviting local businesses, community organizations, families and friends of the school to help fill the parking lot by hosting decorated trunks and distributing candy.
