Jian Gentile and Felicia Coupland captured top honors at the 55th annual Switchback Scamper on Sept. 27.

Gentile was the overall winner of the 10K, finishing in 38 minutes, 22 seconds. Mike Carriglitto placed second overall and was the second male finisher in 42:16, while Gabe Wirth was third in 43:06.

Coupland was the first female finisher and fifth overall, crossing the line in 45:29. Chelsey Cosslett was the second female finisher in 46:33, while Leah Tumbiolo placed third among the women in 54:18.

Gregory Birch finished fourth overall in 45:16, while Sam Shaffer matched Coupland’s time of 45:29 to place sixth. Josh Shaffer followed in seventh at 46:09, with Cosslett eighth and Todd Smith ninth in 49:20.

The event also included a 5K walk, with Brad Konstas finishing first among the 13 walkers in 44:42. Gabby Rhoades was second in 45:16, followed by David Boyle in 45:29.

Event organizers thanked Kevin and Amber Cunningham of Pioneer Timing, members of the congregation at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe and the volunteers who helped make the event possible. Organizers also thanked the Summit Hill Fire Police for providing traffic control and helping ensure the safety of participants, as well as Lehighton Ambulance for its assistance.
