PVEN numbers, needs

• The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network has announced its August “Facts & Figures” information.

At the Food Pantry, 254 families (754 individuals) were served. The Clothing Closet served 35 families (119 individuals). The Diaper Pantry served 141 families. The Menstrual Hygiene Pantry served 200 individuals.

• Current Food Pantry needs include: condiments; coffee and tea; canned tuna and canned pasta; and cat and dog food/treats. The Clothing Closet needs bras and sports bras in all sizes; shampoo, dental, shaving and bathing supplies; blankets and comforters; and sheets and towels. The Diaper Pantry needs baby food and formula; bladder protection pads; adult-sized pull-ups; and baby toiletries such as shampoo, body wash and lotion, as well as baby laundry detergent.

• Sign-ups for Holiday Toy Assistance efforts are now open. Angel Gift Tree registration continues through Oct. 30. The Toys for Tots registration runs Nov. 2-23. Special benefit

The Rimrock Masonic Center, on Rimrock Drive, is hosting a tricky tray event from 4-7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It is a benefit for the Shriners Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Masonic Blood & Organ Donation program.

The drawing is set for 3 p.m. Saturday. Winners need not be present to win.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Chestnuthill recycling

The Chestnuthill Township Recycling Center, which is for township residents only, is open from 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturdays.

Winter hours begin on Dec. 1 and continue through March 31. For winter, Saturday hours are 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The center is at 3223 Hillcrest Drive.

Fall flea market

The Women’s Group of Effort is holding its semiannual flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Effort UMC. Rental prices for a space depends on whether or not one needs to rent a table.

World Communion

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will celebrate World Communion Day at its 9 a.m. worship service Sunday.

Christian Education time will follow at 10:15 a.m.

Come Nov. 14, the church is planning a Fine Arts Showcase and Craft Fair Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rosary bonfire

On Sunday, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church family can enjoy a Family Rosary Bonfire at the firepit behind the church pavilion. It will include s’mores, games and the rosary.

The church in Brodheadsville suggests bringing a chair or blanket. All are welcome.

New program

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, has announced a new program called “Christ, Crayons and Coffee.” Its mission is “to encourage and equip moms … to teach, nurture, and guide” little ones in “faith, love, wisdom, and everyday life.” The program is scheduled the second Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Bear Walk

The PTO Bear Walk at Pleasant Valley Saturday is an all-day affair, but the time had not yet been set. Check the district online at its website, https://www.pvbears.org/, or on Facebook.

Polk Parks & Rec

A Polk Township Parks & Recreation Committee meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday at the township office in Kresgeville.

Choose Life

The Pregnancy Resource Center of the Poconos will hold a Walk for Life on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Greater Shiloh Church North Campus, 831 Ann St., Stroudsburg.

Registration and breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. More information at prcpoconos.org.

Pet blessing

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will hold its annual St. Francis Pet Blessing at 11 a.m. Saturday near the St. Francis of Assisi statue in the church parking lot across from the office entrance.

Eldred food pantry

The food pantry in Eldred Township, at the Eldred Township Community Center, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Ross supervisors

The monthly Ross Township Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the municipal building, 250 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.

Special bingo

St. Matthew’s EC Church, Kunkletown, is holding a cash and gift card bingo on Oct. 11, with doors opening at noon and games beginning 1 p.m. Food will be available for sale by St. Matthew’s Christians in Action.

Fall Family Fun Day

Effort UMC will hold a Fall Family Fun Day on Oct. 17 from 1-3 p.m.

Donations of individually wrapped candy are being accepted until Oct. 11.
