Palmerton sets dates for adoption of Christmas trees in the park

The Palmerton Holiday Lighting Committee has set the dates for tree adoption for its annual Christmas in the Park. The adoption events will take place this Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. and then Oct. 7 and 8 from 6-8 p.m.

If necessary, a sign-up will be held from Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Registration is at the Palmerton Ambulance Building, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, on those dates.

A limited number of trees are available on a first come, first served basis and each family and/or organization may adopt one tree.

Cash or checks accepted.

All checks should be made out to The Palmerton Holiday Lighting Committee.

The following information is required upon adoption: name of person decorating the tree, phone number and email address. Trees must be decorated in compliance with the guidelines that will be provided at adoption.

Decorating is slated to begin on Nov. 22 at noon and must be completed by Wednesday, Dec. 2.

No trees will be available for adoption outside of these events.

In addition to the tree adoption, representatives from the Palmerton Area Library will be selling luminaria kits for their Lights for the Library program.

In an effort to “Spread the Light” throughout the town, the library is asking residents to purchase the kits to be lit at dusk on Dec. 5 in conjunction with the tree lighting in the park. All proceeds from this event will benefit the library.

Christmas in the Park is held on Dec. 5 from noon to 5 p.m. in the Palmerton Borough Park. Tree lighting will take place at 4:45 p.m. The festive day will bring face painting, musical entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus to the park.

The rain date is Sunday, Dec. 6.

More information and updates will be available on the Palmerton Holiday Lighting Committee Hosting Christmas in the Park Facebook page.
