The Fraternal Order of Police, Schuylkill/Carbon Lodge No. 13, announced plans to celebrate the organization’s 50th anniversary.

Lodge 13 was chartered on Oct. 13, 1941, in Tamaqua, and was comprised of police officers from the Schuylkill County communities located south of the Broad Mountain, with the exception of Pottsville, and all of the Carbon County municipalities. Membership consisted of officers from federal, state, county and municipal governments.

The present officers of Lodge 13 are Paul Smith of the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, president; John Terray of the Coaldale Police Department, vice president; John Yanchura of the Lansford Police Department, secretary; and John Slivka, a retired McAdoo Police Department officer, treasurer.
