Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a free community dinner today from 5-6 p.m. All are free to drive up and pick up a to-go meal.

ReStore dates

The Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore is holding a Toolbelt Series workshop from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday on floor installation. And, its Thrifty Thursday sale offers 30% off most items. Extended hours Thursday are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 570-534-4220.

Soup sale ending

Effort UMC’s soup sale of chicken corn chowder and “Piggy” soup (cabbage and hamburger in a tomato base) is ending today. The pickup date is Sunday after each service. Call the church at 570-629-1890.

Bog walks set

On most Wednesdays through Nov. 4, the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will be offering two-hour walks starting at 1 p.m. at the Tannersville Cranberry Bog. The walks will be guided by an environmental educator.

Preregistration and payment is required. The bog’s address is 552 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg.

Folks who ordered hoagies from St. John’s Lutheran, Effort, are reminded that pickup of those hoagies is set for Friday.

This Saturday, Zion Lutheran Church will again host the Brodheadsville Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Adventure time

The Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is offering an “Adventure Surprise Bus Trip” from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

According to the center, participants will take part in moderate hiking and physical activity with surprise stops throughout Monroe County and beyond.

Flea market set

The Women’s Group of Effort, which meets at Effort UMC, is holding a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at the church. For more information, contact the church at 570-629-1890. Anyone interested in renting a space/table, contact Joyce Aylsworth at 570-643-3334 as soon as possible. Lunch and bake sale items will be available for purchase.

The club will next meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

Needed supplies

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is still in need of school supplies such pencils, pens, spiral notebooks and toothpaste.

People can donate to the PVEN on Route 209 in Sciota or take their gifts to participating churches.

Pet program needs

Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, has reported that the Monroe County Meals on Wheels Pet Program is now collecting dry and wet dog and cat food, treats and pet toys. Precious Junk

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is having its annual Precious Junk Sale on Friday and Saturday. Hours both days are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hot dogs, coffee, cold drinks and chips will also be available for sale.

Flea market set

Vendor registration is open for St. Peter’s UMC autumn flea market Saturday in Saylorsburg. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 3.

Senior event

The Chestnuthill Senior Center will welcome Rachel Wydra for its next blood pressure screening at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.

Voucher program

People can still apply to the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program if they meet certain requirements: They must be 60 year of age or older or turn 60 by Dec. 31; reside in Monroe County; and have a gross income at or below $29,526 for a single person or $40,034 for a married couple.

The Loder Center (62 Analomink St. in East Stroudsburg, second floor) will continue to accept applications and give out vouchers until Sept. 30, but only on Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mailed application are not being accepted.
