Kyle Strohl saved his best move for the closing laps Saturday night at Mahoning Valley Speedway.

The Palmerton driver used the outside lane to work around Nick Baer with five laps remaining, then went side-by-side with Lou Strohl before edging ahead to capture the 50-lap Ward Crozier Memorial Modified feature.

Jacob Kerstetter grabbed the early lead before Lou Strohl worked the inside lane to take command on lap seven.

Lou Strohl remained out front through the middle stages, leading Baer, Kerstetter and Kyle Strohl at halfway.

A caution for Josh Mooney on lap 38 set up the final restart with Lou Strohl, Baer and Kyle Strohl occupying the top three spots.

Kyle Strohl moved around Baer with five laps to go and immediately challenged Lou Strohl. The two raced side-by-side before Kyle Strohl gained the advantage with two laps remaining.

A photo finish was needed to determine the winner, with Kyle Strohl edging Lou Strohl by inches for his fifth victory of the season.

Jaden Brown finished third, followed by Baer and Kerstetter.

STREET STOCKS

Adam Steigerwalt came on strong in the second half of the 30-lap Street Stock feature to earn his third victory of the season.

Jon Moser led the opening seven laps before Jamie Smith moved to the front. Steigerwalt worked around Moser on lap 17 and passed Smith one lap later for the lead.

Steigerwalt stayed out front the rest of the way, while Jill Snyder moved around Smith to finish second.

Frankie Althouse, Smith and Moser went three-wide coming to the checkered flag, with Althouse taking third. Smith and Moser completed the top five.

HOBBY STOCKS

Shayne Geist took the lead on lap two and went on to earn his seventh victory of the season in the 25-lap Hobby Stock feature.

An opening-lap incident between Danny Marsh and Travis Solomon brought out the race’s only caution and ended Solomon’s night. Marsh was sent to the rear for over-aggressive driving.

Geist moved to the front on the ensuing restart and remained there for the rest of the event.

Ryan Berger finished second for the second consecutive week, followed by Devin Schmidt, Terry Peters and Arland Moyer Jr.

PRO4

Mark Fister earned his first Pro4 victory of the season, topping Kadie Pursell and Rich Pursell in the caution-free 20-lap feature.
