Both Lehighton soccer teams earned victories in Colonial League action on Saturday.

The two Indian squads gained one-goal wins over Saucon Valley.

GIRLS SOCCER

Marian-Weatherly

Weatherly received goals from three different players to edge winless Marian, 3-1, and break a four-game losing streak.

Emily Rynd, Maci Kane, and Kelsey Williams each found the net for Weatherly.

Katie Knock, who also registered 10 saves, had Marian’s lone goal.

Esma Petschour added four saves for Marian, while Helena Williams had eight for Weatherly.

Lehighton scored three goals in the first half and held off Saucon Valley for a 3-2 Colonial League victory.

Claire Bridy opened the scoring with a breakaway goal. After the Panthers knotted the score, Taylor Moyer and Emmalynn Watson both tallied late in the first half to give the Indians a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Cassidy Litts finished with seven saves for the winners.

Sophia Schaffer netted a pair of goals and added an assist to pace Northwestern to its ninth straight win, a 4-1 Colonial League victory over Southern Lehigh.

The Tigers, who also received goals from both Julie Snyder and Amelia Glassberg, haven’t lost since falling to Nazareth in their opener.

Northwestern remained undefeated in league play.

Aubrey Frable scored with two-and-a-half minutes left in the second half to even the score. Aubrey Barry assisted on the tally.

On Tuesday, the Bombers visit Saucon Valley for their next league game.

Parkland, which won its fourth straight, outshot Pleasant Valley, 36-1.

The Indians’ Landon Trainer scored the game’s only goal in the first half.

The loss was Saucon Valley’s fourth straight.

Alex Vazquez’s four-goal effort powered Bangor to a 10-1 Colonial League win over visiting Jim Thorpe.

Maddox Day registered the Olympians’ only in the second half.

JT keeper Austin Warren finished with 22 saves.

Parkland stretched its win streak to six, as the Trojans rolled to a 5-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

Tamaqua at Ben Blaser Bulldog Invitational

The Tamaqua cross country team took part in the Ben Blaser Bulldog Invitational at Big Spring High School over the weekend.

The Raiders’ top runner, Aidan Elston, crossed the finish line in a time of 18:00.5, which put him in 52nd place.

Memphis Kline was close behind in 57th.

Peyton O’Brien was the top finisher for Tamaqua in the girls race, ending in 57th in a time 22:27.4.

Reagan Gates of Pequea Valley, and Andrew Gildersleeve of Grove City, grabbed top honors in the girls and boys 2A races.

VOLLEYBALL

Tamaqua-Catasauqua

Mille Black had 13 kills, seven digs and four aces to highlight Tamaqua’s 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 non-conference win over Catasauqua.

Payton Shelby aided the Blue Raider victory with nine kills, while Madison Schock added 17 assists, three kills and six aces.

Pleasant Valley went 5-3 at the Southern Lehigh Invitational.

The Bears swept Lebanon and Plymouth Whitemarsh, 2-0, split with Quakertown and dropped a pair to host Southern Lehigh.

Isabella Slizewski had 14 kills during the tournament, while Hunter Farkas finished with 11 and Sasha Slozina added 10.

Slizewski and Harley Durant both collected five blocks, Mya Williams posted 20 digs while Emmerson DeLuna had 11, and Macey Fette registered 21 assists.

Jim Thorpe didn’t make it out of pool play, but did record two wins against Salisbury.

Kimora Seales-Griffith paced the Olympians with 14 kills and eight blocks, while senior Remy Gorski came through with 19 digs and six kills.

Kerrigan Dreisbach registered a hat trick to help Whitehall to a 6-1 non-league victory over Palmerton.

Maya Ortiz notched Palmerton’s only goal, while goalie Julia Maypin had six saves.
