Carbon prepares for Veterans Day parade

The American Legion Post 360 and the Carbon County Department of Veterans Affairs invites people to participate in the 2026 Carbon County Veterans Day Parade.

Weatherly is hosting this year’s parade, which is set for Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. with a rain date of Nov. 15.

Marching bands, local businesses, school groups and others are encouraged to participate, and awards will be given for in these categories: Best Appearing Color Guard, $150; Best Appearing Band, $100; and Best Appearing Float, $50.

A new category this year will be Best Appearing Patriotic America 250 Float celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. The winner will receive $250.

Registration is now open and participants may download forms from the Carbon County website: www.carboncountypa.gov/services/veterans_affairs.

Forms may also be obtained by emailing Christine LeClair at cleclair@carboncountypa.gov or calling the Veterans Affairs office at 570-325-3986.

The deadline to register is Oct. 15. The is no entry fee.

Organizers ask that people be aware that the parade route includes steep hills and that participants who may have difficulty walking long distances or on inclines should ride in a vehicle or on a float.

Organizers ask that anyone that needs assistance with a float or vehicle to ride to contact them, and every effort to locate a volunteer driver, flatbed or vehicle will be made.
