West Penn Township supervisors denied a request for another extension from a firm developing a commercial solar project.

Hole-In-One Solar Farm LLC had asked for a 90-day extension for a solar farm at the former Villas Crossing Golf Course, bringing the new action date to Jan. 22.

“This is the third one,” board Chairman Anthony “Tony” Prudenti said of the extension request.

During May’s meeting, supervisors granted the solar farm an extension until July 22. And last month, supervisors granted Hole-In-One a 90-day extension, which brought the next action date to Oct. 22.

After some discussion at Tuesday’s meeting as to why multiple extensions are needed, it was suggested that the company was addressing some stormwater issues and permits.

“Typically, as long as they are working on it, it’s common practice to extend their time period,” solicitor Paul Datte said.

He recommended granting the extension, which Supervisor Tom Ackerman initially motioned to do.

After additional discussions, Prudenti motioned to deny the extension. His motion was seconded by Supervisor Kyle Kester and passed unanimously on a vote from Ackerman.

With the denial, Hole-In-One’s next action date remains at Oct. 22.

The property eyed for the solar farm along Golf Road measures 164 acres.
