The Concourse Club of Palmerton invites people to visit its annual Art & Photography Show held in conjunction with the Palmerton Festival at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, Third Street and Lafayette Avenue in Palmerton. The show will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
This year’s show will have works by talented local artists in various categories including painting, drawing, photography, digital arts and mixed media, from both adult and student artists. Pieces will be judged by local art professionals and prizes will be awarded.
Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to select the “People’s Choice” winner by voting for their favorite piece of adult art in the show.
Each person will be allowed to vote one time, and a $100 prize will be awarded to the artist who accumulates the most votes.
Additionally, this year the club is holding an America250 themed exhibit.
Works have been created in a patriotic theme by local artists and additional pieces are on loan from community members and The Palmerton Area Historical Society.
Works entered by Palmerton Area School District students in the Carbon County Educational Art competition this spring will also be on display.
As always, there will be raffle prizes including an America250 themed lap quilt by local quilter Judy Borger; a silk floral arrangement by Mary Anne Shafer; a basket of art supplies; and a locally painted folk-art piece.
Winners will be drawn on Sunday afternoon. You need not be present to win.
