He’s the songwriter behind many favorite country bops.

Get ready to be captivated when CJ Solar and The Old Souls perform from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday on the Main Stage.

Solar, who is on guitar and vocals, noted that the band had a great experience when it played at the venue two years ago.

“So we’re really excited to get back,” Solar said. “We had a blast last time, great crowd, and a lot of people have kept up with us online since that show so it will be awesome to see them again.”

Solar, who is joined by Stevie Campos on guitar, Nick Gibbens on drums and Ric Fierabracci on bass guitar, said much has happened in the two years since the band last performed in Palmerton.

“We’ve recorded a new album we’re in the process of recording so we’ve got a whole new shows with songs from that album and all new covers ranging from Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Dr. Hook, to Charlie Daniels, Skynyrd and Allman Brothers,” he said. “I hope first of all to entertain the crowd with a great show, and have them immersed in music for the whole set while hopefully enjoying our originals enough to want to listen to our albums later.”

He added, “We’re excited to be back in Palmerton, and think it’s going to be a really fun night.”

Solar moved to Nashville in 2010 right out of high school, and started playing with the drummer that’s been with him, Gibbens, guitar player Campos.

Since then, he’s been writing songs in Nashville and has opened shows for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr. and Gary Allan, as well as many Nashville artists.
