Friday

• American Legion Post 927 of Gilbert, remembrance service at 11 a.m. Friday at the post, Fairgrounds Road and Route 209.

• Carbon County Veterans Affairs presents a Patriot Day service at 9:15 a.m. in Josiah White Park. Keynote speaker: Joe Shamonsky, RN, Pennsylvania Department of Health.

• Palmerton Community Festival, opening service at 5 p.m. includes a remembrance of Sept. 11. 2001.

• Deirdre Kamber Todd, survivor of 9/11, will be at Venue 22, 661 Main St., Slatington, to present the 25th Anniversary of The World Trade Center with a memorabilia retrospective from 1939 to today. This will help raise funds and recognition for the local first responders of District 183. Free admission, but donation is requested for first responders. Light refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome.

• Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 will hold its annual Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Veterans’ and First Responders’ Memorial Grove, located on the east end of the borough, next to the Nesquehoning Hose Company. The event includes a blessing of first responders and department vehicles by the Rev. William Rupp, pastor of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.

• St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill will hold its annual Red, White and Blue Mass in honor of the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day at 6 p.m. at the church, 462 W. Ludlow St. All police, firefighters, first responders, legal professionals, health care workers and those who serve the families of the Panther Valley are invited to receive a blessing during Mass. Wear your uniform. All service vehicles will be blessed after the Mass.

Saturday

• A memorial service marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, will be held at the South Ward Playground in Tamaqua.

The service will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the playground at Penn and Oak streets. It is being held a day later this year.

All are invited to join for an evening of remembrance, reflection and unity as the service honors those who were lost and those who continue to carry their memory.

Micah Gursky, executive director of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership, will be the master of ceremonies. Skyy Boyer will sing patriotic songs throughout the service.

• A remembrance service marking the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, will be held at the Lehighton Upper Park Amphitheatre.

The service will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 12, and is being presented by the Lehighton United Veterans Organization.

In the event of rain, the service will be held in the Lehighton Boys & Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St.
