Rock the Block party this weekend in Coaldale

Music, food and fun will come together for three days as part of the 10th annual Coal Crackin’ Rock the Block in Coaldale.

The community block party organized by C.H.O.S.E. and the Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company will be held behind the 121 W. High St. fire company and kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday.

There will also be an apparatus parade on Saturday and a basket raffle.

On Friday, entertainment will be provided from 7-11 p.m. by Nineties Entertainment Systems. The event opens at 4 p.m. Saturday and music will be by Alibi from 7-11 p.m.

Polka Joe Manjack from the WMGH 105.5 “Magic Polka Machine” will broadcast live from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the firehouse. The block party opens at noon Sunday, and The Throwbacks will perform from 2-6 p.m. Sunday.

There will be a beer garden and food for sale.

The theme basket raffle features browsing each day, with the drawing at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The annual apparatus parade begins with a lineup at 5 p.m. Saturday at the 121 W. High St. fire station. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Lights and sirens are welcome along the parade route. Awards will be given in a number of categories, including Best Overall Company.
