September 8, 1978 — Roy Fredericks runs for one score and throws for another during the second half to help Tamaqua gain a 14-12 comeback victory over Minersville. Trailing 12-0 at the break, the Blue Raiders open the third quarter with a scoring drive that finishes with Fredericks reaching the end zone on a 4-yard run. The key play during the drive is a 23-pass from Fredericks to John Roberts. Tamaqua, coached by Walt Ligenza, gains the go-ahead and eventual winning TD in the final frame as Fredericks hits Jim Bubel with a 33-yard scoring toss. Fredericks and Bubel team up for the two-point conversion to give the Raiders the lead.
