It was a big day for both Northwestern and Cole Mertz on Tuesday.

The Tigers picked up wins in five different sports, highlighted by Mertz’s six-goal effort during his team’s soccer victory over Jim Thorpe.

Also successful for Northwestern were its girls soccer, field hockey, volleyball and golf squads.

Cole Mertz put on a show with six first-half goals to lead Northwestern to a 10-1 Colonial League win over Jim Thorpe.

Three other Tigers chipped in with goals in the second half, including two from Russell DeLong.
