Local Roundup: Results from Sept. 4

Riley Stoudt and Sophia Schaffer each scored twice, while Cole Mertz had a hand in both of his team’s goals to highlight a successful day for Northwestern.

Stoudt helped the Tigers’ field hockey team remain unbeaten with a 5-0 victory over Moravian Academy, while Schaffer powered the girls soccer team to a 2-0 shutout of Blue Mountain. Mertz added a goal and an assist as the Northwestern boys soccer team edged Blue Mountain, 2-1.

GIRLS SOCCER

Northwestern-Blue Mtn.

Sophia Schaffer scored twice to lead Northwestern to a 2-0 victory over Blue Mountain.

Juliet Snyder and Sophia Varvarelis each recorded an assist for the Tigers, who held a 17-4 advantage in shots.

Northwestern goalkeeper Brystol Hamm made three saves to preserve the shutout.

Moravian-Northwestern

Riley Stoudt scored two goals while Evelyn Alboucq added a goal and two assists to help lead Northwestern to a 5-0 Colonial League victory over Moravian Academy.

The Tigers also received tallies from Julia Farber and Becca Gottlieb.

The winners, who have two shutouts in two games, were aided too by assists from Reese VanNorman and Ella Schmidt.

Charlotte Regenski scored in overtime to lift Wallenpaupack to a 3-2 victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Bears held a 1-0 halftime lead before Wallenpaupack scored twice in the third quarter to take the lead. Pleasant Valley answered in the fourth to force overtime.

Nevaeh Allie and Alex DePalma scored for PV, with Emma DePalma and Meadow Hale recording assists.

Whitehall won all four doubles matches to help gain a 6-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Bears’ only victory came from singles player Amanda Davis, who won in straight sets.

Moravian Academy used a big first half to post a 7-3 victory over Lehighton.

The Lions built a 7-0 halftime advantage behind hat tricks from Isaac Garcia and Trevor King. Apollo Fernandez added a goal.

The Indians responded with three goals in the second half. Jace White scored off an assist from Chase LoBasso, while Sawyer Hoffman and Noah Salski also found the back of the net.

Cole Mertz had a hand in both goals as Northwestern edged Blue Mountain 2-1.

Mertz finished with a goal and an assist for the Tigers, while Weston Killar also found the back of the net.

Northwestern goalkeeper Dean Carl recorded seven saves in the victory.

In a match from Thursday, Blue Mountain swept Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action.

Millie Black had six kills and eight digs for the Blue Raiders, while Madison Schock added nine assists and five digs, and Stephanie Chan ended with 10 digs.

For the Eagles, Alexa Marshall finished with 11 kills and 20 digs.
