Luncheon

“A Day at the Fair” luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 15 at Grace Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg.

The speaker will be Linda Fanton, and the special feature will be Down Home Treasures.

The event is sponsored by Schuylkill Women’s Connection/Stonecroft Ministries.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Aug. 27 with 24 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “He’s Promised.”

Refreshments were served. Drinks and snacks were provided. Machamer handed out ice cream cups for dessert, and members donated snacks.

The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays from the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Thrift Sale

The August Blessings Thrift Shop sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets, Tamaqua.

The sale features gently used clothing for all ages, toys, books and general household items. A limited take-out menu and homemade baked goods will be available. Shoppers can also purchase by the bag.

If you have items to donate to the Blessings ministry or can give a few hours a month to help unpackage, sort and display items, call the parish office at 570-668-2180 and someone will get back to you. Items left at the church are discarded.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

The first day of preschool for the 3-year-old class is Tuesday. Also Tuesday, the Prayer Group meets at 7 p.m. and submissions for the newsletter are due.

The 4-year-old preschool class begins on Wednesday, and retirees will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

At 11 a.m. on Sept. 10, the Hope in the Middle podcast will air.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included. The Adult Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m.
