September 4, 1987 — Lehighton scores the only touchdown of the game in the second quarter to gain a 6-0 victory over Panther Valley in both team’s season opener. The tally is set up by a key fourth-and-13 play at the PV 19-yard line when quarterback Kyle Hough completes a 13-yard pass to Clayton “Skimmer” Andrews. Two plays later, Kevin Tracey slashes into the end zone from a yard out. The Indians, coached by Dave Parsons, receives 100 yards rushing on 19 carries from Andrews. Defensively, the winners get a key interception from Troy Hartman to end a drive while Brad Ahner registers a sack to thwart another Panther opportunity.
