New Victoria Productions, also known as the New Vic of Tamaqua, will bring a revival of Anne Nelson’s “The Guys” to the Tamaqua Public Library at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11.

Marking 25 years since Sept. 11, 2001, New Vic performers again tell the story to honor the lives lost and those ever changed on that day.

All proceeds will benefit the Tamaqua Public Library.

Based on a true story, “The Guys” is set less than two weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, when New Yorkers are still in shock. One of them, an editor named Joan, receives an unexpected phone call on behalf of Nick, a fire captain who has lost most of his men in the attack. He’s looking for a writer to help him with the eulogies he must present at their memorial services.

Nick and Joan spend a long afternoon together, recalling the fallen men through recounting their virtues and their foibles, and fashioning the stories into memorials of words. In the process, Nick and Joan discover the possibilities of friendship in each other and their shared love for the unconquerable spirit of the city.

The benefit performance will be presented as a staged reading and again feature Melisa Klausner as Joan and Jarrod Yuskauskas as Nick.

Yuskauskas, of the Tamaqua area, began acting with the Tamaqua Little Theatre. He has a bachelor’s degree in theater from DeSales University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from the University of Alabama. He’s appeared at Alabama, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Shakespeare festivals; Media Theatre in “Annie” with Wanda Sykes and the Bucks County Playhouse. He appears regularly at Civic Theatre of Allentown, Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre, NCC Summer Theatre, Cedar Crest and Allentown Symphony.

Yuskauskas recently won his fifth Best Actor in a Musical Lehigh Valley Press ABE Award for his turn as Lord Farquaad in “Shrek the Musical” at Civic. He led the award-winning Moravian Academy Theatre Program for 12 years, served as adjunct faculty and dialect coach for Muhlenberg University and directed for Lafayette and Cedar Crest colleges. He is a proud cofounder of the New Vic where he recently directed “Pen Pals” and appeared with Klausner in their first production of “The Guys.”

For many years, Klausner, of Emmaus, worked as a musical theater performer having appeared on Broadway, National Tour, ff-Broadway, regional theaters across the country and in Toronto — including several years with internationally beloved “Les Miserables,” appearing with the original Valjean, Colm Wilkinson. From her studio at Emmaus’s JuxtaHub, she guides young actors and adults in a thriving theater training program.

Klausner is a graduate of the New Actors Workshop Conservatory in New York City. She is a founding company member of the New Vic.
