Pick up pierogies

A reminder that folks who ordered pierogies from the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network can still pick them up at the PVEN Pantry from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.

WE Democrats

Tonight at 6 p.m. the West End Democrats will meet at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville, a change from the group’s regular meeting due to Thursday’s “Music, Mix and Mingle” event taking place at the Sorrenti Family Estate Winery to benefit Thomas Kucer’s candidacy for the state House of Representatives.

Bog walk

The Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is offering its last guided bog walk for the summer on Sept. 9 at the Tannersville Cranberry Bog. There is a cost.

Preregistration and payment is required in advance. The bog’s address is 552 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg.

Grief support

The Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville hosts a monthly bereavement support group facilitated by the St. Luke’s University Health Network. The next meeting is from 1-2:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Preregistration is required. Call 484-526-2499 to register. Meetings will be held when three or more are registered.

Elder Justice Day

This year’s Elder Justice Day is set for Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort. The theme is “Senior Safety: Strong Minds, Safe Bodies, Secure Futures.” The free event includes lunch and door prizes. Vendors will also be on hand.
