Marian, Palmerton and Northwestern all had success on the links.

The Blue Bombers also gained a field hockey victory, as did Lehighton, while other wins came from Tamaqua tennis and Pleasant Valley boys soccer.

GIRLS TENNIS

Tamaqua-MMI Prep

Gabby Osenbach and Adrien Arthurton each won in straight sets to lift Tamaqua to its first victory of the season, a 3-2 decision over MMI Preparatory.

The Raiders also received a 6-0, 6-0 win from the No. 2 doubles tandem of Nico Conahan and Amanda Thierer.

Avery Orozco accounted for one of the Preppers’ two points, beating Serenity Sanchez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Nazareth completed a 6-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference sweep of Pleasant Valley in a match that opened Monday and wrapped up Tuesday.

The Blue Eagles took all three singles matches and all three doubles contests, surrendering just five games across the six matches.

Avery Cogan at No. 1 singles and the doubles tandem of Alayna Boland and Marissa Hauck each managed two games.

Emma Cassady added a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, and Anika Mehta and Sophia Baki took No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-3. Moravian Academy also picked up a forfeit at No. 2 singles.

Ella Ramey and the No. 1 doubles pair of Matylda Burzynski and Amanda Martell won four games apiece, accounting for all eight the Olympians managed on the day.

Richon Russ chipped in with a goal and two assists, while Christian Pinheiro added a pair of helpers.

The Bears hit the road again on Thursday, as they travel to take on East Stroudsburg North.

Saucon Valley defeated Northern Lehigh 4-1 to open Colonial League play.

Alexia Heffelfinger got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard first in the opening quarter. She finished off a set-up from Addison Overholt for an early 1-0 lead.

After that, though, the Panthers’ Lauren Hawk took over and registered a hat trick over the course of the next three periods.

Jocelyn Chagolla added 10 kills, five digs and 17 points for the Blue Devils, and Aubrie Monaghan chipped in five kills, four aces and four digs.

Mya Binder led the Wreckers with five digs, two kills and an ace. Elsie Gower added five digs and an ace, and Jillian Esposito had three digs.

Brad Connors led the Wreckers with a 77, followed by Eli Brown at 78. Jacob Hinkle and Chance Stauffer each shot 80. This match was shortened due to the weather. The final scores were calculated after holes 14, 15, and 16 using the league formula.
