A threatening note discovered by a student during recess prompted an investigation at the Penn Kidder Campus in Jim Thorpe Area School District, though officials say they found no credible danger.

A parent alerted school administration after her child found the note, which stated that someone would shoot up the school. The district, in an alert to families on Thursday, said there was “no evidence of any credible threat to the schools, our staff, or our students.”

“Making threats is against the law,” according to the district’s message, which also called on parents and guardians to reinforce that message at home.

Officials urged the community to report any suspicious behavior or activities to the administration immediately to allow for a thorough investigation.

“The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority,” the district said, adding that all necessary precautions would continue to be taken as the investigation proceeds.

The district asked parents for their help.

“Together, we will keep our schools safe,” the message read.
