August 18, 1966 — Wayne Schock pitches a two-hitter to lead Tamaqua to an 8-1 victory over Lansford that clinches the Panther Valley Little League tournament championship. Schock, who allows a first-inning run but nothing else after that, finishes with 11 strikeouts. Ricky Donohue delivers offensively for Tamaqua, connecting for a pair of two-run doubles. Rodney McHugh adds a hit and scores two runs, while Dave Piccin contributes a hit, a run and an RBI. Glenn Behr chips in with a hit and a run, and Joe Jacobs knocks in a run with a pinch-hit single. For Lansford, Thad Kosciolek ends with both his team’s hits and an RBI.
