State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Michael Wall, 62, of Dunmore, had minor injuries after the 2011 Nissan Versa he was driving crashed into a concrete traffic barrier on Mall Road in Blythe Township at 10:31 p.m. on July 21, according to police.
He refused medical treatment, but was assisted at the scene, police said. His car was towed from the scene.
Wall was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
• A 12-year-old boy from Ocala, Florida, had minor injuries after the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLS he was a passenger in struck a tree along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township at 5 a.m. on July 28.
Police said driver Uyen Boyette, also of Ocala, applied the brakes, causing the vehicle to hydroplane on the wet surface. As a result, the Mercedes hit a guide rail, traveled through a grassy area and struck a tree.
Tremont Area Ambulance transported the boy to Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital in Orwigsburg.
Boyette was uninjured, said police, as were three other passengers in the vehicle, including two other juveniles.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• A Weatherly woman was injured when the motorcycle she was riding on hit a deer on Ben Titus Road in Rush Township, police said.
Donna Halechko, 59, was eastbound at 10:54 p.m. on July 28 when the deer entered her path. After impact, Halechko fell from the 1989 Harley-Davidson she was operating, police said.
She was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton by the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association.
Halechko, who police say had a suspended or revoked license, was cited after the crash.
The motorcycle was removed from the scene.
• No one was injured in a single vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Foster Township at 6:34 p.m. on July 24.
Police said a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Torres, 50, of Wilkes-Barre, left the highway, traveled onto a dirt embankment and then came to rest atop a guide rail.
Police said Torres and two passengers, one a 12-year-old boy, were wearing safety belts and were not hurt. The vehicle was towed.
Torres was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Two people had minor injuries after a 1:05 p.m. on July 25 crash on the Vulcan Hill/Route 54 in Mahanoy Township.
Steven Regan, 72, of Bedminster, New Jersey, was driving a 2024 Audi west when a deer entered the road and ran into the vehicle, police said. He and his passenger refused medical transport from the scene, police said.
The Audi was towed from the scene.
