Tamaqua police have charged a New York City man with violating a protection from abuse order.

According to police, Angelo Marvelli, 47, of New York City, continued to send messages to a Coaldale woman despite a PFA that was filed against him.

Police said Marvelli sent the woman 39 messages between June 9 and 12.
