Slatington boy, 2, taken to hospital after crash

A 2-year-old boy from Slatington was taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash at 3:27 p.m. June 22 on Route 309 in North Whitehall Township, state police at the Bethlehem barracks said.

Police said he was taken by personnel from the Northern Valley Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township, for a medical evaluation.

They said the boy and a 14-year-old boy from Slatington were passengers in a 2018 Ford Explorer driven by Christina M. Kaplan, 34, of Slatington.

They said she failed to yield at a red traffic light and entered the intersection with Pennsylvania Drive, where the Ford was hit by a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven northbound on Route 309 by Michael L. Stein, 57, of Slatington.

Both drivers and the 14-year-old boy were not injured, police said.

Both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Kaplan was cited after the crash, police said.
