State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police were called to the State Correctional Institute at Mahanoy, Grey Line Drive, Mahanoy Township, at 10:01 a.m. July 7 to investigate an extortion/blackmail report.

Police said they were asked to investigate a report of an inmate, 25, allegedly being mistreated by a member of the correctional staff.

• Police were summoned to Morea Road, Mahanoy Township, for a reported death at 10:45 a.m. July 6.

They said an 84-year-old woman from Mahanoy City was determined to have died of natural causes.

• Police are investigating a theft/bad checks incident they were called to at 1:35 p.m. July 7 on Catawissa Road, Walker Township.

They said a 66-year-old woman from Tamaqua told them she lost $1,307.30 in the incident.

• Police said 2,300 feet of copper wire was stolen from a site off 100 Logistics Drive, Ryan Township.

The victim is BEI Electrical, Nazareth.

The theft was reported at 9:15 a.m. July 7. The copper wire’s value was not given.

• Police were summoned to a reckless endangerment report at 12:48 a.m. July 1 on Heckman Street, Rush Township.

The said it was reported that a firearm was being discharged at suspected trespassers on the property.

• A 42-year-old Tuscarora woman is the victim of a theft of a motor vehicle incident reported to police.

The resident of Mulberry Street told police that on Oct. 1, 2025, she had her 2013 Chevrolet Cruze towed to a residence on Fairview Street, Rush Township, for service.

Upon checking on July 9 on the status of the work, which was to be completed, the vehicle was reported to have been moved from the property.

• A 55-year-old Delano man was cited for defiant trespass after police were called to the area of the Lofty and Water Dam roads, Delano Township, at 7:42 p.m. July 10.

A 50-year-old Mahanoy City man told police that he was unfamiliar with a 2017 Jeep that was parked at the entrance to his property and then saw an unidentified man walking on his property. Police said the man left the scene before their arrival but was identified and cited.
